Consecration

This special rite of passage marks the beginning of a child’s formal Jewish education and officially welcomes them into our Religious School community, no matter their age.

At Washington Hebrew, we celebrate Consecration on Simchat Torah—the holiday on which we celebrate the Torah.

Our newest students lead the Congregation in song, are blessed by the clergy before the open ark and the Torah, and receive a miniature Torah of their very own to mark this special beginning.
