Religious School

Washington Hebrew Congregation offers an innovative, experiential, and compelling religious education program to help children learn about Judaism and develop their sense of Jewish identity.

To best meet our families’ needs, we offer programs for students in Pre-K through 12th grade at both the Lehrman Religious School at Temple and the Julia Bindeman Suburban Center in Potomac. Our school is open to all WHC members; non-member families with children in Pre-K through 3rd grade are also invited to join our school community.

COVID-19 UPDATE: Prioritizing Safety & Community

For the 2020-2021 school year, in an effort to ensure everyone’s safety, neither our Religious School nor our Upper School programming will take place in person.

For students in Pre-K through 7th grade, we will offer a number of virtual opportunities to gather, learn, build community, and pray. Our offerings will be elective-based, involving a series of options for children and families. We know each family is unique and will work with you to craft a personalized experience. For more information, please contact Stephanie Tankel.

8th through 12th graders will also meet virtually, with programming designed to meet the social, emotional, and intellectual needs of our Congregation’s teenagers. Please contact Ira Miller if you would like additional information.
