Religious School

Washington Hebrew Congregation offers an innovative, experiential, and compelling religious education program to help children learn about Judaism and develop their sense of Jewish identity.

To best meet our families’ needs, we offer programs for students in Pre-K through 12th grade at both the Lehrman Religious School at Temple and the Julia Bindeman Suburban Center in Potomac. Our school is open to all WHC members; non-member families with children in Pre-K through 3rd grade are also invited to join our school community.

Registration for the 2022-2023 school year is open!

Health and Safety

We care deeply about the well-being of each Religious School student and faculty member. As conditions necessitate, we adjust our plans per local, state, and federal guidelines, in partnership with the WHC COVID taskforce.

If you have questions about our evolving approach, please do not hesitate to contact our Director of Lifelong Learning, Stephanie Tankel. We love discussing our efforts to keep people safe and healthy just as much as we love talking about Jewish education!

    • All Religious School students and faculty are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
    • Students are to be dropped off and picked up outside.
    • Outdoor spaces are used when possible.
    • We have upgraded air handling systems at both of our buildings, which has improved overall air quality and mitigates many health risks – including coronavirus.
