Religious School

Washington Hebrew Congregation offers an innovative, experiential, and compelling religious education program to help children learn about Judaism and develop their sense of Jewish identity.

To best meet our families’ needs, we offer programs for students in Pre-K through 12th grade at both the Lehrman Religious School at Temple and the Julia Bindeman Suburban Center in Potomac. Our school is open to all WHC members; non-member families with children in Pre-K through 3rd grade are also invited to join our school community.

Registration for the 2021-2022 school year is now open. Enroll your child today!

Health and Safety

We care deeply about the well-being of each Religious School student and faculty member. We have developed a comprehensive pandemic safety plan with the guidance of WHC’s Reopening Task Force and its medical professionals. As conditions necessitate, we will adjust our plans per local, state, and federal guidelines.

If you have questions about our evolving approach, please do not hesitate to contact our Director of Lifelong Learning, Stephanie Tankel. We love discussing our efforts to keep people safe and healthy just as much as we love talking about Jewish education!

    • All Religious School faculty are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
    • Masks will be mandatory for everyone – adults and children.
    • Our class sizes are being kept intentionally small (this is why we’re offering two separate sessions).
    • Class experiences are set up to promote physically distancing.
    • Students will be dropped off and picked up outside. At this time, we do not intend for parents/guardians to enter the buildings for drop-off or pick-up.
    • Outdoor spaces will be used when possible.
    • We have upgraded air handling systems at both of our buildings, which has improved overall air quality and mitigates many health risks – including coronavirus.
