Sinai Slam: An alternative shavuot experience
  • This event has passed.

During Sixth & I’s innovative take on the holiday of Shavuot, experience a night of dairy, debate, and personal discovery.

Start the night with a wine and cheese tasting led by Cheesemonster DC. The main event features candid, autobiographical stories from Sixth & I’ers exploring unexpected takes on Shavuot’s themes of anticipation, revelation, and conversion. Following, eat your fill of cheesecake and Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams and hang out with four DC rabbis who work with Jews in their 20s and 30s. They’ll discuss and debate their most challenging Jewish texts and ideas and take your questions.

  • 7:00 pm – Cheese and wine tasting led by Cheesemonster DC
  • 8:30 pm – Sinai Slam Storytelling Event
  • 10:00 pm – 10 commandments, 4 rabbis, 1 piece of cheesecake: Rabbi Ilana Zietman of GatherDC, Rabbi Eliana Fischel of Washington Hebrew Congregation, Rabbi Josh Beraha of Temple Micah, and Rabbi Aaron Potek will dive deep into a commandment they think is misunderstood or underappreciated. Enjoy Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream, coffee, and cheesecake.
