We invite you to end your week, welcome Shabbat, and celebrate Hanukkah with the whole family!

It’s an electric Festival of Lights as we make Temple glow for Ha-NEON-ukkah. Glow sticks, blacklights, glow-in-the-dark dreidels, and more will make this a Hanukkah to remember. Wear neon colors or white if you want to glow under the blacklights, and don your favorite Hanukkah sweater, or other “snappy casual”/festive attire.

RSVP BELOW

  • 5:00 pm — Hanukkah Tot Shabbat & Family Dinner.
  • 6:00 pm — Pre-Oneg. This is also your last chance to drop off an unwrapped Hope for Henry gift.
  • 6:20 pm — Candlelighting. Please bring your own Hanukkiyah, and we’ll supply the candles!
  • 6:30 pm – Shabbat service. We will be recognizing December birthdays, so if you’d like yours mentioned, please fill out this form.
  • After the service – Celebratory Oneg & Party

Before and after the service, stop by the Women of WHC’s Judaica Pop-up Shop, for last-minute gifts, another box of candles, or just to say hi!

We’re also kicking off our annual MLK Day of Service Clothing Drive. Please bring new or gently used clothing and shoes (for adults and children). Warmer items are especially appreciated.

What should I wear to Shabbat Ha-NEON-ukkah? The clergy have an answer!

After eating, head down to Ochsman Hall for our blacklight party celebration! Here’s some of the activities we’ll have:

  • Decorate a Hanukkah Party Cup — They’ll light up the night and can be personalized with Hanukkah stickers.
  • Glow Pong — Compete with or against your friends by tossing glow-in-the-dark ping pong balls into cups of glittering, colorful liquid.
  • Glow-in-the-Dark Dreidel – You’ve never spun like this before! Special dreidels (and tables with reflective tape) will make this classic game even more fun!
  • Neon Selfie Station — We turn a whole wall into a neon reflective selfie background, so take some Insta-worthy pics (and please share them with @whctemple)!
  • Coloring Station — Everyone loves a classic Hanukkah coloring page, but wait until you combine neon crayons and a blacklight room!
  • Young Children Play Space — A special spot where they can get creative with a projector and fun props!

Shabbat Hanukkah@WHC is sponsored by Emily & Marc Gerson through the Susan and Stephen Porter Memorial Fund.

Special thanks to our musicians who add so much to the service. We wouldn’t have them without the support of the Irene & Abe Pollin Music Program Initiative.

If you would like to sponsor a portion of a future Shabbat@WHC to celebrate a milestone or honor a memory, please contact Lindsay Feldman, Executive Director, at lfeldman@whctemple.org.
