“How do you see it?” is a Parent/Child Learning Day for families with a child who will become a Bar/Bat Mitzvah in the year 2026. Throughout the morning, we will have the opportunity to study together and learn why differing perspectives are important in the study of Torah. This special program begins the B’nei Mitzvah process at Washington Hebrew Congregation, and as such is a special moment in your young adult’s Jewish journey. For those who have attended this program before with an older child, we ask that you attend the program again with your child born in 2013, as you will have many opportunities to learn with your child throughout the morning and offer him/her a special blessing as you pass the Torah to your child for the first time. (The Religious School is aware of this program and encourages all of the 2026 B’nai Mitzvah to attend this program.)

During the morning, we will also explain the process and timeline here at Washington Hebrew Congregation, how dates are assigned, what is required of your child, the clergy role in the process, and your family’s role during the B’nei Mitzvah weekend. Finally, there will be an opportunity for you to ask questions regarding your special event. At the conclusion of the program, you will receive the form which enables us to assign a date for your child in 2026. Dates will be assigned in April and mailed to your child in May.

This program is for parents and children born in 2013 only.
