A Vigil for Israel and Its People

Monday October 9, 2023 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Hybrid – Temple

Remembrance and Solidarity with Israel flag
  • This event has passed.

Our hearts ache for the lives lost and many wounded in the recent terror attacks in Israel. We are deeply saddened by the ongoing conflict, and we want to bring our community together in support of Israel.

This Monday, October 9, 5:30 pm at Temple and via livestream, we will hold a vigil in recognition of the ongoing conflict. This is a time for us to mourn the loss of life, to pray for healing, and to stand together in solidarity with the people of Israel.

Washington Hebrew clergy will be present to offer comfort and counsel. We will also have resources available for those who wish to learn more about the situation or to get involved in relief efforts.

While the reason to gather may be tragic, gathering as a Congregation, as a community, is a sign of strength and unity in these difficult times. I encourage you to join us for this vigil, to show our support for the people of Israel, and to pray for peace.

If you would like a safe and supportive environment to discuss your thoughts and feelings and learn more about the complex situation in Israel, I encourage you to join us following the vigil for 5 Conversations on Israel, part of our Mondays@Macomb series. Registration is required to stay for the class. Please visit our website for more information.

Whether for the vigil or 5 Conversations on Israel, we hope you find community and strength at Washington Hebrew on Monday night.

The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington has established an Israel Crisis Relief Fund. If you’d like to contribute, donate below.
