POSITION: 2239 Event & Engagement Coordinator

REPORTS TO: 2239 Rabbinic Team

POSITION SUMMARY

2239 provides authentic and joyous Reform Judaism to people in their 20s/30s throughout the DMV. Our 2239 Event & Engagement Coordinator is at the core of our success. In partnership with 2239’s rabbinic team, the 2239 Coordinator drives our visioning, outreach, event planning, and event execution for all that we do. 

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES 

  • Serving as the 2239 point-person to execute events. Annual events include the High Holy Days and Passover Seder. Monthly events typically consist of one Metro Minyan and one other event each month. Responsibilities include:
    • Working with venues, restaurants, rental companies, and other outside vendors in advance of events to reserve and secure all necessary items for a successful event. 
    • Collaborating with WHC employees on logistics in advance of events to ensure successful event operations. 
    • Independently securing as-needed items before events. 
    • Designing and managing event registration before and during events.  
    • Serving as the on-site lead for 2239 events throughout the year. 
    • Processing 2239’s financials, including monthly invoices and relevant reimbursements. 
    • Managing communication with individual 2239’ers about events. 
  • Spearheading an evolving outreach strategy for maximum impact, including connecting with community members over coffee (avg. 1-2/week) across the DMV who are interested in learning more about 2239 and how to get involved in Jewish life.
  • Collaborating with 2239’s rabbinic team and lay leadership team (known as the Steering Committee) to design impactful events throughout the year.
  • Designing and managing 2239’s weekly newsletters. 
  • Updating Mailchimp’s database of 2239’ers and leading ongoing efforts to track newcomers to 2239.
  • Visioning and executing a robust social media campaign across multiple platforms. 
  • Leading the rabbinic team in finding relevant grants to apply for and collaborating during grant writing process.
  • Joining the 2239 rabbinic team in a 30-minute weekly phone call to plan and prepare for the week and month ahead. 
  • Tracking and logging hours worked to ensure accurate compensation. Expected hours: < 10 hours/week throughout much of the year. 12+hrs/week during the High Holy Days. 

Compensation: $25/hr
