Rabbi Shankman’s “Favorite Chicken” Recipe

headshot of Rabbi Sue Shankman

This is the basic breaded chicken recipe my family ate on many Friday evenings growing up. As it was a family favorite, and often requested, we’ve always called it “Favorite Chicken”!

Ingredients:

  • Boneless Chicken breast
  • Flour
  • Egg
  • Panko
  • Italian style bread crumbs (can substitute gluten-free bread crumbs)

Instructions:

  • Put out 3 shallow bowls, or a combination of plates and one shallow bowl for the eggs
  • Place flour on the first plate/bowl
  • Beat 2 eggs (more depending on the amount of chicken) in the second bowl
  • Mix panko and Italian style bread crumbs on the third plate
  • Coat each piece of chicken on both sides by placing it first in the flour, dipping, and coating it in the egg, and then finally, coating in the panko.
  • Saute the chicken in olive oil on a saute pan on both sides until cooked through. Alternatively, you can bake the chicken.
