My Jewish Journey: Froma Sandler

I was introduced to Washington Hebrew Congregation 60 years ago. My husband, Jerry Sandler, attended Religious School through Confirmation, a tradition that was followed by our children and grandchildren who are now fourth generation members.

I became involved in the activities at Temple and was invited to become a member of the Board of Directors. There, I was able to appreciate and see the programs that were happening within our Congregation and community. In 1984, I was privileged to be elected the first woman president in the history of Washington Hebrew Congregation and am proud to say there have been many women presidents since!

The clergy and members have helped my family in sad moments and times of joy. Washington Hebrew Congregation has been a lifeline to our family, and we know the importance it has played in the lives of many members of our Congregation.
