Ellen Berlow

Ellen, her late husband, Ralph F. Berlow, her children, and grandchildren have been members of Washington Hebrew Congregation for four decades. She has served on many WHC committees including Community Issues/Social Action, learning retreats with EmptyNesters, adult education courses, and travel to Israel with Rabbi Joseph Weinberg. She attended the 2007 Union for Reform Judaism biennial conference in San Diego as a WHC delegate. Ellen is the co-founder of WHC Books, a library discussion group that meets quarterly to share books and poetry on Jewish themes.

Ellen is a freelance journalist and has written for The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, and United Features Syndicate. She was a columnist on health and aging for The Washington Times from 1993-98. She was communications director for the Maryland presidential campaign for Jimmy Carter and served as information director of President Carter's advisory committee for women. Ellen is currently deputy editor of the Cosmos Club monthly bulletin.
