Lewis Wiener

Lew Wiener has been a member of Washington Hebrew Congregation for over 25 years. He is a member of the Board of Directors, co-chairs the Development Committee, is a member of the Professional Development Committee, has chaired the ECC Committee (and was a member of the ECC Task Force), and co-chaired the Rabbinic Search Committee that resulted in the hiring of Rabbi Skloot.

A Partner with Sutherland Asbill & Brennan, Lew heads the firm’s insurance and financial service litigation group, is a member of the firm’s executive committee and serves as Sutherland’s Washington, D.C. office’s Pro Bono Partner. Prior to joining Sutherland in 2000, Lew was a trial attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice. He is a 1984 graduate of the State University of New York at Albany and received his law degree in 1987 from The American University, Washington College of Law.

Lew is a member of the Board of Trustees of the State University of New York at Albany. He is also a longtime member of the Board of Directors of the Washington Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs where he served as the Committee’s Co-Chair from 2013-2015. Lew is a member of the Board of Trustees at The Norwood School in Bethesda, and has served as a court-appointed member of the United States Court of Claims Advisory Board since 2000. He served as the Court of Federal Claims Bar Association’s President in 2002 and 2014. Lew and his wife, Alisa, have three children, Zachary, Jillian, and Lindsay.
