NEW! Israel @78: A Taste of Israeli Culture 
Sunday, April 26, 1:00 pm, Bender JCC, Rockville, MD REGISTER
Celebrate Israel through an afternoon of hands-on culture, food, and fun for the whole family. Learn how to make the perfect falafel sandwich, join a lively drum circle, make flower crowns, try Israeli dancing, and enjoy face painting, a bounce house, arts & crafts, and more for the kids. For workshops, arrive early and sign up on-site as spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. 

NEW! Books as Bridges: Jewish American Heritage Month in the Classroom

Educators of all backgrounds are invited to learn and connect with one another as we usher in Jewish American Heritage Month. We’ll hear from a panel of local Jewish authors, teachers, and librarians (including WHC member and author Anna Jordan) about how to use literature as a bridge to understanding Jewish life and culture. Walk away with a Jewish American Heritage book list, new connections to local authors, and lesson inspiration for May. Plus, the museum will be open late just for teachers and other school staff. 

11th Annual Memorial Day Program at the American Jewish Veterans Memorial
Sunday, May 24, 2:30 pm, Bender Jewish Community Center, Rockville, MD

The Bender JCC (6125 Montrose Road, Rockville, MD 20852) is honoring the Jewish American veterans who have lost their lives since 9/11. Veterans and their families and friends are invited to gather at the center’s American Jewish Veterans Memorial for light refreshments, live music from Voices of Vets, and remarks from local veterans, military members, and Rabbi Moishe Kavka (Chabad Lubavitch of Rockville). The keynote speaker will be Michael Rugel, Director of the National Museum of Jewish American Military History.
