Women of WHC

Comprised of the women of WHC at every age and stage of their lives, the Women of Washington Hebrew Congregation come together for friendship and service to the Temple and our community. Through fundraising, volunteering, and our dues we make quite an impact.

The Women of WHC:

  • provide financial support for special projects at the ECCs, Religious School, Temple, and the Carrie Simon House;
  • enhance religious, spiritual, and intellectual growth through events such as Women's Seders, Shabbatons, and our Literary Club;
  • cook for the Children's Inn at NIH, pack meals for the WHC Hunger Project, deliver Meals on Wheels, and sponsor activities at JFGH;
  • tutor students at the Abram Simon Elementary School;
  • mentor new sisterhoods in Israel and the United States;
  • provide funding for safe playgrounds in Israel and to countless local, national, and international charities and organizations;
  • have fun! Our calendar includes many social and cultural activities for our members.

If you are a woman of WHC, we invite you to join us! We have a place for you as a volunteer, leader, participant, or simply as a dues contributor. Your involvement and support - combined with that from hundreds of other women - helps our community enormously.

WWHC Literary Group

Not just for women, this active and enthusiastic daytime book group is coordinated by the Women of Washington Hebrew Congregation and is open to the entire Temple community. 

Each year we read a variety of fiction and nonfiction books and engage in quarterly discussions facilitated by congregants, clergy, and community members with a significant connection to the books.

The Women of WHC welcome all Washington Hebrew Congregation women as well as women who are not Temple members.
