Sunday Stuffing

On the Sunday before Thanksgiving, take a break from your own holiday preparations and spend an hour or two with us at Temple for some tikkun olam.

To serve our local community during the holidays, we sponsor a variety of volunteer opportunities at Temple. We'll bake and pack meals to ensure that families in need in the Washington, D.C. metro area have a joyful Thanksgiving.

Here's how you can help:

Baking:

Want to get involved before Sunday Stuffing? Sign up now to bake 4-6 loaves of pumpkin bread or 4-6 dozen cookies. All of your baked goods will be included in our "All the Fixin's" dinner bags. Looking for inspiration? Try this pumpkin bread recipe or this chocolate chip cookie recipe.

All the Fixin's:

Help us fill 450 grocery bags with "all the fixin's" for a full dinner for families from the Abram Simon Elementary School, N Street Village, Friendship Place, and Carrie Simon House. All ages are welcome.

Blanket Making:

Help us bring warmth on these cold winter nights by making blankets for the men and women supported by Friendship Place, a non-profit dedicated to developing solutions to homelessness. All ages are welcome.

Casserole Making:

Join us to prepare 250 green bean casseroles to donate to Nourish Now, a non-profit dedicated to eradicating hunger in Montgomery County. Led by our 2239ers, all ages are welcome.

WHC Hunger Project:

Join the EmptyNesters to help us assemble meals for the hungry, which will be distributed throughout the Washington, D.C. area. Appropriate for ages 8+. This program has a separate registration page.

Schlepper Team:

Help us make, pack, and move boxes and bags of goods as they are made. Appropriate for ages 12+.

This project is generously supported by WHC's TOV Fund.
