The Haftarah for Yom Kippur demands our attention. Isaiah yells at the Israelites that they should not fast for fasting’s sake. Isaiah continues by sharing that, in fact, no ritual matters if we are not first caring for those in need. Quite the message for the most ritualistic day of the year! What does our Reform machzor have to say about these words? How does our sect of Judaism view right vs. rite differently than others? Join Rabbi Fischel and a group of dedicated learners as they dive into Isaiah 57:14-58:14 from the Reform, Reconstructionist, and Orthodox perspective. All materials will be provided.
