Capital Area Food Bank logo

So many in our community are feeling the effects of the government shutdown — from employees missing paychecks to SNAP recipients losing essential benefits. According to the Capital Area Food Bank, it’s a perfect storm with this situation coming so close to the holiday season.

Help us support our neighbors, either by shopping the Capital Area Food Bank’s Amazon Wish List or purchasing items from their list of most-needed foods:

  • Plant proteins: canned or dry beans, whole nuts & seeds, lentils
  • Canned proteins: tuna, salmon, chicken (in water)
  • Grains: brown & white rice, pasta, whole oats, corn & flour tortillas
  • Peanut butter (no hydrogenated oils)
  • Pantry staples: cooking oils, tea, non-dairy/shelf-stable milks
  • Canned vegetables (low sodium, no salt added)
  • Canned fruits (in 100% juice)
  • Whole grain hot and cold cereal (containing less than 7g of sugar per serving)
  • Non-salt spices: black pepper, cinnamon, garlic powder, etc.

Drop-Off Locations:
Donations can be dropped off at Temple or JBSC during business hours, services, or educational programming.
