Join Washington Hebrew and our sibling congregation, Or Hadash in Haifa, Israel, to discover the secrets of our people’s resilience in moments of upheaval and change. Over four weeks, we will study a selection of Jewish leaders who guided us through our most tumultuous times. Leadership in Times of Change will explore ancient and modern leaders like Rabbi Yohanan ben Zakkai, the Baal Shem Tov, Theodore Herzl, and Esther (the hero of Purim) alongside the texts that shaped their changing reality. This course will reflect on the meaning of their decisions and uncover how we can draw upon our tradition for courage and clarity today- in our time of change.

This class is taking place simultaneously with Or Hadash, and includes joint sessions to enable us to have honest and meaningful discussions regarding our reality and our shared responsibility towards the Jewish people.
