Better Together

Washington Hebrew Congregation Religious School is the beneficiary of a grant whose purpose is to engage students and their elders in inter-generational learning to foster dialogue between the generations.

Through this program, it is our hope that our students will have their lessons brought to life by individuals who have experienced the history they are learning. At the same time, elders will have the opportunity to engage with our students, find new meaning in their own experiences, and see historical events from a different perspective. Both groups will benefit from an expanded congregational community that is made smaller through these new connections.

WHC Religious School teachers and special guests will lead the learning experiences. Elders will not be expected to prepare lessons; rather they will provide personal anecdotes to enrich the learning taking place. Elders are invited to attend any program that they find interesting and do not need to commit to the entire series of events.
