Join us for a special program with Holocaust survivor and author Irene Butter

Date: Tuesday, November 13
Time: 7:00 pm
Location: Temple (3935 Macomb St. NW)

Born in Berlin in 1930, Butter moved to Amsterdam in 1937 and lived in the same neighborhood as Anne Frank, who was just two years older. Butter survived two concentration camps and eventually came to the U.S. in 1945. Since the late 80’s she has been teaching students about the Holocaust and the lessons she learned during those traumatic years. Her memoir, Shores Beyond Shores, details that journey.

Irene is the co-founder of the Raoul Wallenberg Medal & Lecture series at the University of Michigan, and one of the founders of Zeitouna, an Arab/Jewish Women's Dialogue group in Ann Arbor.

This special event is part of the WHC Upper School program and open to the community. Books will be available for sale after the program for $20 (cash or check made payable to “WHC”).
