Our in-person gatherings are to share experiences, resources, find strength together, and explore how WHC can be of help. Our virtual gatherings are intended to provide more practical and how-to advice.

D.C. Department of Employment Services (DOES) — Offers job fairs, trainings, and support for District residents.

Maryland Workforce Exchange — Maryland jobseekers can access local job listings, training programs, resume support, and much more. 

Montgomery County Workforce Development — Among the resources offered, this page is here to connect displaced federal workers with employers in Montgomery County. 

NOVANextThrough Northern Virginia Community College, displaced federal workers can register for free workshops on interview techniques, resume writing, and AI in the workplace. Eligible workers can also take certification and skills training classes free of charge. Read about the classes, then submit an interest form. 

Prince George’s County Council — This page highlights a host of resources for laid-off workers, including guidance on federal labor policies, employee rights, and support for whistleblowers in the public sector. 

Virginia Workforce Connection and Virginia Career Works — Search for events, job fairs, webinars, and workshops around Northern Virginia.

Career Pivot BootcampThis 30-day free boot camp offers career coaching, practical tools, and resources for those pivoting away from federal employment. 

CourseraAffected federal workers can take free online courses and certificates through this global learning platform, and access an array of resources to help with navigating what’s next. 

Fired After 50For older federal employees who are out of work, the AARP offers advice including on applying for unemployment benefits, navigating health insurance, and starting a job search in today’s digital hiring landscape. 

NOVANextNorthern Virginia Community College offers free workshops on navigating the job search, plus free certification and skills training classes to certain laid-off federal workers. See if you’re eligible, then submit an interest form. 


Career Gateway Program Offered through the Jewish Council for the Aging of Greater Washington, these intensive five-day workshops are for adults 50+ who are looking to reenter the workforce.

Jewish Social Service Agency — This regional agency offers career coaching, resume help, and job support for people with disabilities.


Jewish Social Service Agency — This regional agency offers therapy, counseling, and workshops for people of all ages in Montgomery County and Northern Virginia.

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) — Local chapters in D.C., Montgomery County, and Northern VA offer free peer-led support groups and classes, along with a 24/7 help line.
