About Beineinu

Beineinu is a year-long fellowship exchange program for young adults in their 20s and 30s that brings together participants from the United States and participants from Washington Hebrew Congregation’s sibling congregation, Or Hadash, in Haifa, Israel. Through immersive experiences in both countries, participants build lasting relationships while exploring one another’s communities, cultures, and Jewish identities and gaining a deeper appreciation for the richness and complexity of Jewish life in both countries. By the end of the program, participants leave with new friendships, broadened perspectives, and a stronger sense of shared Jewish connection.

This program is run by Washington Hebrew Congregation and Or Hadash. It is generously funded by The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington and the Morningstar Foundation.

The Experience

The experience begins with a six-day seminar in Washington, D.C. (February 14-20, 2027), where Israeli participants are introduced to the diversity of American Jewish life through shared learning, immersive experiences, home hospitality, and fun nights out. In the spring (May 1-8, 2027), the cohort reunites in Israel for a second immersive seminar focused on Israeli society, history, and current challenges. Participants will stay at a home in Haifa and travel through Israel together, visiting meaningful sites, engaging with a wide range of voices and perspectives, and getting a sense of the cultural scene through fun social outings.
