My Jewish Journey: Emily Muenzer

Last summer I went to Israel, and I had my Bat Mitzvah at the Western Wall.

When we arrived, I was really nervous, I don’t know why; I was with my family and Rabbi Lustig, but something felt different than when I usually practiced reading my Torah portion at home. This time, I was having a Bat Mitzvah in a place where just a few years ago, girls weren’t allowed to. I felt really proud as a girl who was having a Bat Mitzvah there. I was standing up for something that I believe is right: letting both boys and girls have a B’nei Mitzvah at the Western Wall.
