Every woman deserves the knowledge and confidence to take control of her health. On Sunday, March 23, 12:30 pm at Temple, the Women of Washington Hebrew Congregation invite women of all ages to an afternoon of camaraderie and learning. This vital event will feature an enlightening discussion led by two of the most respected experts in the field, Dr. Rachel Brem and Dr. Christine Teal.

Why This Event Matters

Breast cancer touches nearly every family in some way, and while significant advances in detection and treatment have saved countless lives, many women remain uncertain about their personal risk factors. This event aims to bridge that gap by providing attendees with the tools they need to become proactive about their breast health.

Dr. Brem, Director of the Breast Imaging and Interventional Center at GWU Medical Center and Chief Medical Officer of the Brem Foundation to Defeat Breast Cancer, along with Dr. Christine Teal, Associate Professor of Surgery, Director of the Breast Care Center, and Chief of Surgery at GWU Medical Center, will offer valuable insights into early detection, personalized screening options, and the latest intervention techniques. Their message is clear: early diagnosis saves lives, with 95% of women diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer surviving and thriving.

A Conversation for Every Woman

This event is designed for women of all ages, whether you have a family history of breast cancer, are navigating your own health journey, or simply want to be informed for yourself and your loved ones. Topics will include:

Understanding individual risk factors, including genetics.

The importance of early detection and how young women are increasingly being diagnosed.

Strategies for advocating for the care you or your loved ones need.

More Than a Talk — A Community Event

This afternoon of learning and empowerment begins with a catered luncheon at 12:30 pm, offering a chance to connect with other women in a warm, supportive environment. The conversation that follows promises to be not only informative but also deeply inspiring.

In addition to the discussion, Dr. Brem and Dr. Teal’s book, No Longer Radical, is available for pre-order and signing at the event. This essential handbook on breast health offers a wealth of information to help women navigate their health journeys with confidence.

The event also highlights a meaningful initiative: the Brem Foundation’s re-bra program, which collects new and gently used bras for women in need. Attendees are encouraged to bring donations, with collection bins available at Temple and JBSC.
