When two of our vibrant adult communities – Boomers and Empty Nesters — merged in 2023, we had little idea what a vibrant hub of social connection, cultural engagement, and lifelong learning it would become. With a membership that has now surpassed 1,000, the Besters are redefining what it means to stay active, engaged, and connected within our congregation.
Over the past year, the Besters have experienced an incredible array of events that have brought members together for fun, friendship, and enrichment. From last month’s conversation with Rep. Jamie Raskin, to the dazzling Shalom Bollywood evening, and a sold-out theater outing for A Hanukkah Carol, or Guilt Trip: The Musical, laughter and camaraderie have been at the heart of every gathering. The group’s monthly Besters Book Club has provided a space for engaging discussions with fascinating authors, while winery visits, lively dinners, and cultural outings have strengthened bonds among members.
And the excitement is only growing! Looking ahead, the Besters have an even more vibrant lineup of activities planned, including an exclusive visit to the Dupont Underground Art Exhibit, museum explorations, intimate in-home Havdalah dinners, the much-anticipated annual dance party, refreshing ice cream socials, and enriching Jewish theater experiences.
More than just a social group, the Besters provide a meaningful way for members to stay involved in Jewish life, deepen friendships, and continue their journey of discovery. Whether you’re drawn to arts and culture, spirited celebrations, or thought-provoking discussions, there’s a place for you in this dynamic and welcoming community.
If you haven’t yet joined the Besters, now is the perfect time. With something for everyone, the only question left is: Where will we see you next?
