:: Sisterhood

The Award-Winning Auxiliary for Women of ALL Ages

Sisterhood welcomes all women of WHC to join us for friendship, service, and social activities. Our membership consists of a large, diverse, and committed group of women who are concerned with the well-being of our synagogue, our local and national community and Israel.

Sisterhood members learn and grow together through Literary Circle, “Lunch and Learns,” and through the outstanding speakers at Sisterhood-sponsored programs. They engage in service and, among countless other things, Sisterhood members:

  • cook for the homeless every month
  • send holiday packages to our college students
  • decorate the Bimah for Sukkot and provide flowers during the High Holy Days
  • volunteer at The Ivymount School, Abram Simon School and the Jewish Foundation for Group Homes
  • participate in the annual Brain Tumor Race for Hope and Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure
  • support and underwrite many ECC, Religious School, youth group and temple activities
  • oversee the SCRIP program that supports Carrie Simon House
  • operate one of the most beautiful, well-priced, and well-stocked Judaica shops in the metropolitan area at JBSC

WHC Sisterhood members are among the most vibrant members of Women of Reform Judaism, the international network of 75,000 women in over 600 Sisterhoods. Congregations thrive with strong, enduring Sisterhoods like ours.

We look forward to welcoming new members who can get involved in any capacity. Events are held during the day and evening to accommodate all schedules. Even if you don’t have the time to be very active, your membership is important.
