Thanks to you … We accomplished this and more!

Mitzvah Day 2011 was a huge success. What other Temple function brings together more than 1000 members as a community to participate in almost community service projects throughout the Washington D.C. area?

This past Mitzvah Day, with your help, we accomplished the following:

• Made nutritious soup meals for 10,000 people
• Created 1,000 soft, warm fleece blankets for people in need
• Sorted, folded and boxed clothing for area agencies
• Created 700 craft items for seniors
• Recycled hundreds of boxes for reuse
• Worked side by side with JFGH residents to sort donations
• Landscaped at Button Farm
• Hosted an ice cream party with games at a women's shelter
• Entertained seniors with games of Bingo
• Hosted a pizza party at Glen Echo for families in need
• Donated many units of blood to the American Red Cross
• Filled new backpacks with school supplies for children
• Sang with Kol Rinah at Ring House
• Swabbed hundreds of potential donors for Swab a Cheek Save a Life
