:: Projects 2012
Washington Hebrew Congregation has a rich history of
volunteerism, and Mitzvah Day has become a vehicle for our
congregants to continue and nurture the tradition of being a force
for good within the community. We need each and every one of you to
accomplish our goals, and the resulting benefits to our communities.
Please take a look at these lists, as well as the other options
listed directly below, and choose the projects which interest you.
You may register either by returning the form sent to you in the
mail, or by completing the on-line form.

Helping Hands
These projects allow volunteers to
extend a hand to benefit others. Reach out to individuals in need by
showing them how to make a warm blanket, or make toiletry kits for
homeless people – all through the work of your hands and your heart.

 |
Community Crafts
These projects allow volunteers young
and old to create beautiful crafts that bring smiles to the faces of
the recipients.
 |
 |
Socializing &
Entertainment
These projects allow volunteers the
opportunity to brighten someone’s day. Volunteers bring sunshine to
seniors who love to be visited by families, while other volunteers
play bingo and socialize with women living in a shelter.

 |
Recreation with Children
and Teens
These projects allow volunteers to interact with kids, coaching them
in sports activities or cheering them on as they enjoy a fun game of
bowling and lunch.
 |
 |
Mitzvah Meals
These projects allow volunteers to roll
up their sleeves by making sandwiches for the hungry and preparing
hearty casseroles for soup kitchens. Other volunteers can simply
assist with serving an already prepared lunch at a shelter.
 |
 |
Construction & Painting
These projects allow volunteers, skilled
or novice, the opportunity to help an agency save costs by providing
simple manpower. You do not have to be an expert carpenter to lend a
hand!
 |
 |
Outdoors
These projects are for volunteers young
and old who love to be outside, either sprucing up a garden or
helping an agency with an outdoor project. As Jews we know that our
responsibility lies not only in caring for others but also in caring
for our environment.
