:: Interfaith
Promoting Interfaith Understanding &
Community Service
Members of the Interfaith Committee participate on behalf of WHC
in the Interreligious Council of Northwest DC. The Council in turn
brings together members of WHC, St. Albans Episcopal Church, and
Church of the Annunciation (Roman Catholic) to promote interfaith
understanding and community service. The Council meets quarterly to
explore a wide range of theological issues from the unique
perspectives of the three faiths. The Council also sponsors the
annual Kristallnacht commemoration, an annual community-wide
Thanksgiving dinner, and other special interfaith programs open to
members of the three congregations and the public at large.
Women's
Interfaith Book Group Tuesday, February 23
 |
Daughters of Abraham meet monthly at the
National Cathedral and occasionally at Washington Hebrew
Congregation on the 3rd or 4th Tuesday, depending on
religious observances, from 4-6 & 7-9 pm. There are 60
Jewish, Christian and Muslim women participating in the
groups, and new members are always welcome. The groups read
a book a month, fiction or non-fiction, about Judaism,
Christianity or Islam. The group is not a course, but since
the books build on each other, the women usually read the
books even if they cannot attend every month. Next meeting,
Tues. Feb. 23, to discuss, Elie Weisel's, Souls on Ice.
