The Boomers

For WHC members born between 1946 and 1964, The Boomers is a social and cultural club designed to serve the interests of the Baby Boom generation.

WHC Boomers are married, single, partnered, divorced, and widowed. Some of us have children; some of us do not. What we have in common is an interest in meeting other Temple members to create a sense of community, experience new things, and have fun. Join us for terrific activities througout the year, including biking brunches, dinners, dances, movies, celebrations, and more!

Bike and Brunch

Grab your helmet (or your walking shoes) and join us on Sunday, April 23 for a fun morning bike ride or stroll past the District's monuments followed by brunch.

We will meet at 9:15 am at Georgetown Waterfront Park (where Wisconsin Avenue dead ends) and depart at 9:30 am. There is on-street parking to the right on K Street underneath Whitehurst freeway.

The bike route will take us along the Rock Creek Parkway past the Kennedy Center to the Lincoln Memorial; to the Washington Monument, past the Holocaust Museum to the Jefferson Memorial; around Haines Point to circle back to the MLK Memorial; crossing the Arlington Memorial Bridge to the Women’s Veterans Memorial; around the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial, crossing the Potomac on Key Bridge; and ending in Georgetown on M street. The overall distance to be traveled by bikers is about 12 miles on paved trails and streets with gentle terrain.

The walking tour is about 3 ½ miles and will take in the Lincoln and Vietnam Memorials.

After the ride/walk we will all gather for brunch at Mr. Smith's of Georgetown, 3205 K Street NW. Non-bikers/walkers are welcome to join us at 11:15 am.

If you're interested in participating, please contact Gabrielle Grunau or Bill Grosshandler, 301-229-7630. Last-minute participants are welcome, but we will need to let the restaurant know how many to expect.
