:: Carrie Simon HouseProviding a Home for Women & Children in Need For more than two decades, Carrie Simon House (CSH) has provided a safe and supportive home for homeless young women and their babies. CSH gives young mothers between the ages of 18 and 25 a stable place to live while they conclude their schooling or job training and helps these women prepare for independent and productive lives. Committee members act as mentors to the residents, plan cultural outings, work on fundraising, manage house maintenance, supervise donations to the house, and much more. HOW YOU CAN HELP… Volunteer: Become a member of our committee! We welcome anyone interested in volunteering. Actual volunteer activities require as little or as much time as you would like to commit. Volunteer for a project; attend a meeting; share a special skill (e.g. nutrition, financial literacy, parenting expertise) with house residents on a one-time basis. Please join us if you’re interested in becoming involved in this rewarding (and fun!) committee. Buy SCRIP: SCRIP are gift cards WHC purchases from major retailers such as Giant, Starbucks, and CVS at a discount and re-sells at face value to Congregants. SCRIP subscribers pay no extra money for the cards they receive each month, and the purchase of the cards generates regular monthly income for the house. To learn more about ordering SCRIP, please click here. Donate: Temple members can support CSH most directly through cash donations. One hundred percent of all donations goes toward the considerable operating costs of the house and toward special projects. Temple members may also donate select, gently-used items such as clothing, toys, and furniture. Bins for these items are now located in the coat closet off the Temple lobby and in the lobby of JBSC.
