:: Back to BasicsA Judaism Course for Adults Back to Basics, a course designed for adults, covers the fundamentals of Judaism for those who missed the opportunity to learn as children or who would like a “refresher.” Under the guidance of Gerdy Trachtman, our retired Religious School Associate Principal, students will explore the principal ideas of Judaism through the lens of Jewish texts, life cycle events, holidays, prayers, Jewish history, theology, and much more. Each class will begin with Hebrew reading instruction, and for those who are interested, our course will culminate in an adult B’nai Mitzvah. Students who prefer not to take Hebrew can opt to attend only the lectures and discussions. Back to Basics is a four-semester course which started last year, but since new ideas are discussed in every class, new students are always welcome to join us. Classes are held both at Temple and at JBSC. |
