Preserving Washington Hebrew Congregation's History

In 1856, President Franklin Pierce signed an Act of Congress incorporating Washington Hebrew Congregation. Since its first planning meeting 158 years ago, WHC has played a leading role in the history of Jewish life in the District as well as in the nation. The members of the Archives Committee are dedicated to gathering, cataloging and preserving WHC’s life story and materials collection so that the tradition of Washington Hebrew can be passed down from generation to generation. The committee welcomes the assistance of a computer-knowledgeable person to print labels and perform other tasks.
